Carson is Here!
Carson was born December 20th at 5:02 p.m.
He weighed 8 lbs 5 oz and was 19 inches long.
He is 1 week old and so far things have gone pretty well (other than only getting 2 hours of sleep at one time...but that is pretty much expected with most newborns, so I can't complain). Here is his birth story.
Since Kaden was so big (9 lbs) my Dr. said I could be induced 1 week early if I wanted. I thought for sure that I would go into labor before my induction date came, but no such luck. The hospital called the night before and said that I was 5th in line to be induced, so they would call me tomorrow afternoon and let me know if I could still come in or if I would need to wait another day. WHAT!!! I was so disappointed. Rob was only able to get 2 days off of work and I was so worried that one of those days would be spent hanging out at home instead of in the hospital having a baby. Well everything worked out because they called that morning at 9:45 and told me to be there by 10:30 a.m. I was so relieved I didn't have to wait another day. We headed over to the hospital, they started the pitocin, and then Rob and I spent the rest of the morning eating (clear liquids for me and fig newtons and Lorna Dunes for Rob) and watching TV...pretty uneventful. I was having minimal pain and things were progressing pretty slowly so I decided to hold off on the epidural for a bit so that I had the freedom to get up and walk around and move around in bed. Around noon the Dr. came in and broke my water. It was definitely more pleasant having my water break at the hospital rather than at my house in my bed, which is what happened with Kaden... I don't recommend that to anyone! Well, at that point I figured I was going to start hurting so I asked for the epidural. The nurse came in and said the anesthesiologist was in a C-section and would be available in 45 minutes. Well 45 minutes turned into 2 hours with still no epidural. The contractions were getting stronger and stronger and all I could think about was how on earth women deliver babies with no epidural. The nurse ended up calling another anesthesiologist from another department and he came over. After the pain meds kicked in, it was smooth sailing. The nurse had turned the pitocin down when I was having tons of pain before my epidural, and then forgot to turn it back up for a few hours, so things moved pretty slowly, but I didn't care because I didn't feel any pain. Around 4:30 I was complete and ready to push. The doctor came in, I pushed through 4 different contractions, and little Carson was born!

I have been the worst blogger ever! I guess being pregnant and working full time doesn't make blogging a huge priority. Rob and I are really excited about the new baby. It is going to be a boy and my due date is December 27. Kaden seems like he is really excited, but I guess we will see how he really feels about the situation when we actually bring the baby home.

Yea for Spring!
I have been working a lot and haven't had much time for blogging. I am working 4-5 days per week and receiving training to cover the NICU so work has been a little crazy, but we have had a little time for some fun.
We went to the zoo a few months ago. I thought it was much more pleasant to go when it was a little cold that when it is blasted hot in the middle of the summer. I had a "why am I allowed to be a parent" moment while we were there. Kaden was running around like a crazy man (as usual) and he ran through the fence that was holding the camels. (Keep in mind the "fence" consisted of wooden posts with 3 peices of wire strung between the posts...not much of a fence). I was screaming at him to get out of the camel's cage and my screaming made him laugh (as usual) until he turned around and noticed there was a camel about 12 inches from his head. He got scared and yelled for me...and for a second I was too scared to run and save him, but then I got brave and ran an got him. It has been over 2 months and kaden will still come up to me and say "I run in the camels and you get me."
Kaden loves working out in the yard with Rob. Here they are fertilizing the lawn.
We went to Baby Animal Days. It was a rainy, muddy, mess. but Kaden loved it. Here he is petting a lamb.
And here he is petting a little chick.

Jazz vs. Warriors Game
We went to the Jazz game last night. It was pretty fun. Rob was pretty excited that the Warriors won because that is his hometown team. The rest of the stadium was pretty mad. Kaden had fun playing on the playground equipment on the second level. As for watching the game, he wasn't all that interested. He did like the Jazz Bear though.

Gingerbread House
We made a gingerbread house. Kaden had a fun time putting all of the candy on the house. I was surprised at how carefully he put each peice of candy on. I thought for sure this was going to turn out to be a messy nightmare, but it actually was pretty fun. I would put a dot of frosting and Kaden would put on the candy. This entertained him until the house was about 75% finished, then Kaden decided it was more fun to eat the candy.
